40-75 flight hours

Module 1

Pre Solo

During this stage, the student will become familiar with the airplane and build a foundation for all future flight training. The student will learn all maneuvers required to successfully complete a solo flight in the local area and will be introduced to attitude instrument flying.

  • Normal and Crosswind Takeoffs and Landings  

  • Straight and Level Flight and Turns 

  • Climbs and Climbing Turns

  • Airport Traffic Pattern Procedures

  • Collision Avoidance, Windshear Avoidance, and Wake Turbulence Avoidance

  • Descents, Straight and Turning

  • Slow Flight and Stalls

  • Emergency Procedures 

  • Ground Reference Maneuvers

  • Approaches to Landing, Normal and Slips, Go-Arounds

Lesson 3

Training Time​

  • 15-25 Hours Dual Flight Instruction

Lesson 4

End of Course​

  • Oral Exam and Flight Exam with Instructor

  • When successful, Fly 3 Laps in Pattern Solo​​

Module 2

Cross-Country

During this stage, the student will conduct their towered solo flight and continue to practice skills learned in the previous stage. The student will be introduced to performance takeoffs and landings, night operations, crosscountry flight and the types of navigation so associated to include VOR, and GPS navigation. The student will get more practice with attitude instrument flying to increase the students overall instrument proficiency

Lesson 3

Aeronautical Experience (Flight Time) 61.109

  • 7 Hours Dual Flight Instruction

    • 3 Hours Flight Solely By Reference to Instruments

    • 3 Hours Night Cross Country 

      • One Cross Country Flight of over 100 NM total Distance

      • 10 Takeoffs and Landings to a Full Stop​​

  • .5 Solo at a Towered Airport​

    • 3 Full Stops​

  • 2 Hour Cross Country Exam with Instructor​

Lesson 4

​Solo Cross Country Flight 61.109 A.5.II

  • 5 Hours Cross Country Solo 

    • One solo cross country flight of 150 nautical miles total distance, with full-stop landings at three points, and one segment of the flight consisting of a straight-line distance of more than 50 nautical miles between the takeoff and landing locations;

Module 3

During this stage, the student will continue to hone the skills learned in modules one and two for their final checkride prep. This module ends with an End of Course exam, following which the student take their check ride with a Designated Pilot Examiner.
